TV: Battlestar Galactica (2003)

In the opening miniseries, I saw a lot of old friends. Here's a riddle to get us started.

What do you get when you cross Seven of Nine (Star Trek Voyager) with Scorpi in Crighton's head (Farscape)? Clue: I'm just waiting to see if she turns into a bunny a la Harvey. Answer: Number Six(Battlestar Galactica, 2003).

Other familiar characters are:
Gauis Baltar = a whiter Julian Bashir (Star Trek Deep Space Nine)
Starbuck, aka Kara = a whiter Chiana (Farscape)
Apollo = equally white Lt. Tom Paris (Star Trek Voyager)
Priestess Elosha= the mysterious, black and wise outsider, Guinan (Star Trek Next Generation).
Well, the show looks to be worth watching. They've set out enough loose threads in the beginning. Still, you gotta wonder if a show about constant retreat from your enemies will catch on.

The special effects, sets and props are good enough. The scenes of massive ordinance launching are pretty neat, but how do they even survive such a nuclear battle with no "shields?"

Anyways, it's definitely a leap beyond the original series, which I watched. Even as a child then, I knew it was pretty bad. I wonder if Lucifer, the Christmas light, cone head robot will show up, or Muffit, the robotic Cujo.

Pretty good. Now I'll watch the episodes.
