Movie: Frank (2014)

The memorable feature of this movie is the titular character wears a round head mask day and night.  Frank is the leader of a band of avante garde musicians, who are devoted to his creativity.  It's rated R for some  language and some sexual content.

The good 1:  This shows a thing in the world that is rare, but I have glimpsed.  The talented guru with his followers--they don't fit into the regular world, but thrive in their bubble.  This story has the jealous "mama," the true believers and the "Yoko."

The good 2:  The head.  Frankly, his head is completely covered by this spherical mask all the time.  I especially liked the idea that the artist is "living in his head."  He is separated from the outside, and he is enigmatically unknowable.  It's the type of artist that is inward.  The head is a visual demonstration of the social condition.

The bad:  The parts just didn't add up to a whole.  The acting is good, you can feel the Frank charisma.  Just the film didn't go to the corners, as they say.  There are several corners it could have gone to: eccentric slice of life or triumph of art and love.

The ugly:  After the credits, I sort of thought I would like a bumper sticker of Frank's head.  But then I thought, what does that mean?  I would be referring people to this movie, and is it worth it?  Also, the general public would think it's a picture of Davey (Davey and Goliath claymation) or possibly Frank Sidebottom, a British comedian who wore such a head.

So, this is not a worthless movie, but not a life changer.  You could take a look, I guess.
